Overview & Suitability
The Town Center/Busbee Park & Ride (formerly known as the Town Center-Big Shanty Park & Ride) is a state-owned commuter parking facility situated on George Busbee Parkway in Kennesaw, Georgia. Managed by Cobb County Department of Transportation (Cobb DOT), CobbLinc, and the State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA), this large surface lot offers over 640 paved parking spaces. It is designed to accommodate standard passenger cars and light-duty commuter vehicles. It is strictly designated for transit riders taking local CobbLinc routes or express commuter coaches to Atlanta, and parking is not permitted for commercial trucks, RVs, motorhomes, or overnight camping.
Access, Dimensions & Clearance
Because this is an open-air surface parking lot, there are no overhead clearance or height restrictions, making it highly accessible for standard vehicles, SUVs, and passenger vans. The parking facility features wide entryways and clearly marked lanes, allowing for effortless navigation. Drivers should remain alert to active bus lanes, transit traffic, and pedestrians making their way to the boarding platforms. There are no tight parking decks or narrow spiraled ramps to navigate.
Parking Rates, Tariffs & Booking
Parking at this facility is completely free of charge for daily transit commuters. There is no pre-booking required, and there are no pay stations, parking meters, or ticketing machines. Commuters simply pull in, find an open spot, and board their bus. Please note that overnight parking is strictly prohibited. Local transit authorities and towing companies actively monitor the lot, and unauthorized vehicles—including overflow guests from neighboring student housing complexes—will be towed at the owner's expense.
Security & Amenities
The lot is equipped with essential transit safety and convenience amenities. Security features include overhead street lighting, video surveillance cameras, and emergency call boxes. The facility also features a passenger waiting pavilion, benches, trash receptacles, bike racks, and nearby electronic vehicle (EV) charging stations. Commuters are always advised to lock their vehicles, close windows, and keep all personal valuables out of sight.
Strategic Alternative
This location is exceptionally positioned for both transit and event parking. It sits directly across the street from the Kennesaw State University (KSU) Sports and Entertainment Park, making it the primary recommended parking area for spectators attending events at the KSU Outdoor Track and Field Complex, the Owls Nest, and Fifth Third Bank Stadium. Additionally, the CobbLinc Rapid 10 shuttle routes connect this lot directly with the Kennesaw and Marietta KSU campuses, and offer easy transit links to regional attractions like Truist Park and the Battery Atlanta via the Cumberland Transfer Center.
