Facility Overview

The Sunderland Park & Ride, located at 6470 Solomons Island Road N, is a dedicated commuter parking facility designed to support local transit infrastructure. This site serves as a vital hub for residents looking to carpool or utilize Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) services. It is specifically optimized for passenger vehicles to help reduce traffic congestion and promote sustainable commuting options within the Sunderland and Dunkirk area.

Access and Navigation

The lot is situated with direct access from Solomons Island Road (Route 2/4), allowing for easy entry and exit for daily commuters. The facility is an open-air surface lot designed for standard passenger vehicles; there are no height clearance restrictions typical of indoor parking garages, making it suitable for standard commuter cars and SUVs.

Pricing and Transit Connectivity

Parking at the Sunderland Park & Ride is generally provided free of charge for transit users, as it is a public facility managed to support the MTA bus network. It serves as a key transit node, specifically functioning as a primary stop for the 830 commuter bus line. Following recent transit adjustments in the region, this location has become an essential alternative for commuters affected by closures at other local transit parking sites.

Security and Amenities

As a public commuter lot, the facility offers a no-frills, functional environment for short-term and daily parking. While it lacks premium amenities like covered spaces or gated security, its location on a high-traffic corridor provides a baseline level of passive surveillance. Commuters are encouraged to follow all posted signage regarding transit boarding areas to ensure smooth operations.
