Facility Overview

Area 12 (encompassing Area 12, 12S, and 12W) is a prominent open-air surface parking facility situated on the western perimeter of the University of Toledo Main Campus at 1825 W Rocket Dr. Located immediately adjacent to the McQuade Law Center and the University of Toledo College of Law, this lot serves as one of the primary entry-point parking options directly inside the university\'s West Entrance off Secor Road. Because Area 12 is a flat, uncovered asphalt lot, it provides unobstructed overhead clearance, making it fully suitable for standard passenger sedans, pickup trucks, full-size SUVs, and high-roof conversion vans without any garage height restrictions.

Prime Location & Nearby Attractions

Area 12 offers immediate, doorstep access to several major academic, cultural, and sporting destinations on the University of Toledo campus and surrounding neighborhoods:

• University of Toledo College of Law (McQuade Law Center): Direct 1-minute walk (adjacent to the lot), making it the premier location for law students, legal clinic clients, and visiting counsel.
• Glass Bowl Stadium: Located approximately 8 to 10 minutes east on foot through the campus core, providing convenient game-day access for Rockets football games.
• Savage Arena: Accessible within a 10 to 12-minute walk, ideal for men\'s and women\'s basketball games, commencement ceremonies, and live entertainment.
• University Hall & Centennial Mall: Just a 5 to 7-minute scenic walk across the Ottawa River footbridges to the academic heart of campus.
• Secor Road Commercial Corridor: A 3 to 5-minute walk west to an array of casual dining options, coffee shops, and retail convenience stores along Secor Road.

Access, Navigation & Transit Connectivity

Drivers can reach Area 12 easily via Secor Road, turning eastward into the University of Toledo\'s West Entrance onto West Rocket Drive and West Towerview Boulevard. Its location on the western perimeter ensures rapid ingress and egress without needing to navigate congested interior campus drives. Interstate 475 is located just 1.5 miles to the west, providing streamlined regional highway links across Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. For public transit users, the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) operates regular bus routes with stops along Secor Road and inside the campus loop, facilitating convenient local connections.

Visitor & Driver Tips

University parking regulations are active year-round. Daily and hourly visitors should verify whether spaces are designated for general hourly parking or reserved permit tiers (such as student or faculty permits). Use the ParkMobile app or ParkUToledo online guest portal to pay and register your license plate immediately upon arrival to avoid citations. On major game days and athletic events, arrive 45 to 60 minutes early, as western campus lots often experience increased demand and may implement special event flat-rate parking rules.
