Overview and Suitability
Damon Point Parking refers to the designated street-side and dirt-lot parking areas situated at the southeastern end of Ocean Shores, primarily along Discovery Ave SE. This area serves as the primary gateway for visitors accessing the Damon Point spit. Please note that the parking situation is informal and located in an environmentally sensitive area; visitors are urged to park only in marked or designated spots to respect the surrounding private land boundaries.
Access and Navigation
Parking is largely comprised of unpaved, dirt-surface areas located just off the roadway. Access is straightforward for standard passenger vehicles. Large motorhomes and RVs should exercise caution due to the informal nature of the parking surface and potential soft sand conditions. Visitors should be aware of shifting environmental conditions, as parts of the point and surrounding access routes may be subject to periodic closures by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources due to erosion or public safety concerns.
Rates and Amenities
Parking at this location is free of charge, as it is public land managed for recreational access. There is no booking system or pay-station infrastructure. Amenities are very limited, consisting primarily of portable restrooms located near the main pedestrian access point. As this is a pack-in, pack-out site, no trash receptacles or additional facility services are provided on-site.
Strategic Importance
This location is the essential parking hub for those wishing to explore the four-mile beach walk, birdwatching spots, and wildlife viewing areas of the Damon Point spit. It serves as the most convenient access point for hikers and beachcombers looking to explore the convergence of the Pacific Ocean and Grays Harbor.
