Overview & Suitability
The 125 E. Rosemary Street Parking Deck (also known as the East Rosemary Deck) is a state-of-the-art, multi-level public parking facility managed by the Town of Chapel Hill. Completed in late 2024, this modern, seven-story precast concrete structure offers approximately 1,100 parking spaces to significantly boost off-street capacity in the historic downtown corridor. It is perfectly suited for standard passenger vehicles, SUVs, light trucks, and electric cars. Given its structured design and ceiling height limitations, it is not suitable for RVs, campers, or heavy commercial vehicles.
Access, Dimensions & Clearance
The facility features dual vehicular entrance and exit points located on both East Rosemary Street (Level 2) and North Street, allowing for seamless ingress and egress. The deck supports efficient two-way traffic flow on wide ramps, making internal navigation highly straightforward. While standard clearance levels safely accommodate standard vehicles (with standard clearances around 7\'0\' to 8\'2\' on the lower levels for ADA van accessibility), drivers of tall utility trucks or vehicles with roof accessories should always monitor the clearance bars at the entryways.
Parking Rates, Tariffs & Booking
Parking rates are highly structured to accommodate both quick visits and long stays. The first 30 minutes are completely free. Thereafter, rates are set at $1.00 per hour for the first two hours, transitioning to $2.00 per hour for hours 3 through 9, with a standard daily maximum of $18.00. Vehicles left overnight are charged an additional $10.00 fee. Special events feature a flat $30.00 rate. Payment is quick and simple via the ParkMobile app (Zone/License Plate-based pay system) or touchless on-site kiosks, though a $0.30 fee applies to credit card transactions. For long-term parkers, monthly permits are available, priced at $140.00 for a 12-hour workday pass and $175.00 for a 24-hour unlimited pass.
Security & Amenities
This high-tech facility places a strong emphasis on user safety and convenience. Security features include modern CCTV surveillance cameras, automated License Plate Readers (LPR) at the gates, bright LED lighting throughout all seven levels, and routine parking patrols. To support green transportation, the deck is equipped with 20 EV charging stations, ample dedicated bicycle parking, and features a ground-level retail \'porch\' facing Rosemary Street to host local vendors.
Strategic Alternative
Perfectly situated in the heart of downtown Chapel Hill, the East Rosemary Deck serves as an excellent alternative to congested street parking or restricted university lots. It sits directly across from the Innovate Carolina Junction and is just steps away from Franklin Street\'s thriving dining and retail scene. It also provides a short, convenient walk to major UNC-Chapel Hill destinations such as the Morehead Planetarium, Memorial Hall, Hill Hall, and Kenan Stadium, making it the ideal choice for game days, campus visits, or theater events.
