Overview & Suitability
The Jackson Ward Lot, located at 123 W Oglethorpe Ave (also known as the 210 Barnard Street Lot), is a premier open-air surface parking facility situated in the heart of Savannah's Historic District. Managed by the Parking Management Company (PMC), this lot is ideal for standard passenger vehicles, including sedans, compact cars, and standard SUVs. Due to its tight turning radius and standard-sized spaces, it is not suitable for oversized vehicles, RVs, motorhomes, or trailers.
Access, Dimensions & Clearance
As an open-air surface lot, there are no height clearance restrictions, making it an excellent choice for taller passenger vans and trucks. Access to the lot is straightforward via the intersection of Barnard Street and West Oglethorpe Avenue. Drivers should remain cautious of heavy pedestrian activity and narrow lanes characteristic of historic Savannah.
Parking Rates, Tariffs & Booking
Parking is managed seamlessly through a digital pay-by-phone system. Upon arrival, visitors can scan the posted PMC Pay QR codes or text the designated number to pay via credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay—no app download required. The estimated hourly rate is $7.00, with a daily rate of approximately $30.00. Monthly parking options are also available for local commuters.
Security & Amenities
This well-lit surface lot features digital ticketing and is regularly monitored by PMC lot auditors. While there is no longer a physical guard shack or on-site attendant, the digital payment system allows users to easily extend their parking sessions remotely and receive digital receipts.
Strategic Alternative
This location serves as an excellent alternative parking hub for visitors exploring popular downtown attractions. It is within short walking distance of Orleans Square, the Collins Quarter, Leopold's Ice Cream, the Jepson Center, and the Telfair Children's Art Museum. Additionally, it offers prime overflow parking for events at the nearby Savannah Civic Center and Johnny Mercer Theatre.
