Overview & Suitability
The Kennesaw State University East Parking Deck is a modern, multi-level parking structure located on the east side of the KSU Kennesaw Campus. Serving as a primary hub for commuter students, residential students, and university staff, this facility provides 1,308 parking spaces. It is a permit-only deck during regular academic hours, requiring an active KSU East Deck parking permit. However, during major athletic games, convocations, and special campus events, the deck is opened to the general public. This parking facility is strictly designed for standard passenger vehicles; RVs, campers, and oversized trailers are not permitted.
Access, Dimensions & Clearance
Access to the East Parking Deck is highly convenient, situated right off Frey Road and directly across from the KSU Convocation Center. The deck features multiple entry and exit lanes to handle peak traffic flows. The maximum vehicle clearance height is strictly set at 7 feet 2 inches (2.18 meters), which is clearly displayed at all entrances. While standard cars, SUVs, and standard pickup trucks can navigate the facility with ease, high-profile vehicles must seek alternative surface-lot options on campus. Inside, the deck is designed with wide driving lanes, clear directional arrows, and straightforward ramp navigation.
Parking Rates, Tariffs & Booking
For KSU students and employees, parking is managed through a digital permit system tied to License Plate Recognition (LPR). Commuter and residential permits cost $110 per semester ($220 for the full academic year), while faculty and staff monthly permits are priced at $23. For general visitors and event-goers, the campus utilizes the ParkMobile app or pay-by-plate stations. The standard visitor parking rates are as follows:
- Under 30 minutes: $1.00
- 31 minutes to 1 hour: $3.00
- 1 to 2 hours: $6.00
- 2 to 3 hours: $8.00
- 3 to 4 hours: $10.00
- Each additional 30 minutes: $1.00
- Maximum Daily Rate: $12.00
Pre-booking is not available for individual daily parking, and spaces are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Security & Amenities
The East Parking Deck is equipped with strong security and convenience features to ensure a safe parking experience. The facility is actively monitored and patrolled 24/7 by the Kennesaw State University Police Department and Parking Enforcement teams. It features bright, energy-efficient LED lighting across all levels, active CCTV surveillance cameras, emergency call boxes, and clear pedestrian walkways. For added convenience, the deck includes designated Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations and fully accessible elevators.
Strategic Alternative
As a strategic parking choice, the East Parking Deck is the absolute best option for anyone visiting campus for athletic events, particularly at the adjacent Bobbie Bailey Athletic Complex (Bailey Park for softball) and the Mickey Dunn Stadium (baseball), as well as basketball games and volleyball matches at the KSU Convocation Center. Additionally, users can easily hop on the university's free shuttle service, the Big Owl Bus, which connects the East Deck to other parts of the Kennesaw Campus.
