Overview & Suitability
Kennesaw State University Visitor Parking provides designated parking areas for guests visiting the Kennesaw Campus in Kennesaw, Georgia. The primary visitor locations include the Student Center Visitor Lot (situated south of the Carmichael Student Center), Lot A Visitor Parking (located near the Clendenin Building on Kennesaw State University Road), and Lot V2 (positioned outside of the Central Deck off Parliament Garden Way). These surface lots and designated deck areas are strictly suitable for standard passenger vehicles. Large recreational vehicles, RVs, and motorhomes are restricted from parking in these campus visitor spaces, though specialized parking arrangements can be made during university game days in alternative designated lots.
Access, Dimensions & Clearance
Accessing the Kennesaw Campus is straightforward via I-75 and Chastain Road. To reach the Student Center Visitor Lot, drivers can travel down Kennesaw State University Road until it dead-ends directly into the lot. For Lot V2, visitors can access the designated spaces directly outside of the Central Deck. While the open-air surface lots (such as the Student Center Visitor Lot and Lot A) feature unlimited height clearance, visitor vehicles entering multi-level structures must adhere to standard parking deck clearance limits (typically averaging 7 to 8 feet). Navigating the campus can be busy during peak class hours (Monday through Friday), so visitors should expect moderate pedestrian traffic and plan accordingly.
Parking Rates, Tariffs & Booking
Visitor parking operates on a pay-per-plate system. The current tariff is $3.00 per hour, up to a maximum daily rate of $12.00. No advance booking is required for standard daily visits, as spaces are occupied on a first-come, first-served basis. Payment must be completed upon arrival using the following official channels:
- ParkMobile App: Contactless mobile payment is available by entering the specific zone number displayed on local parking signs. A $0.35 transaction fee applies when paying through the app.
- Pay-per-Plate Kiosks: Physical kiosks are located within each visitor parking area where drivers can register their license plates and pay with credit or debit cards.
Because Kennesaw State University utilizes License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology for enforcement, drivers must ensure their license plate is entered accurately and that the vehicle is parked with the plate visible from the driving lane.
Security & Amenities
The campus parking facilities are well-lit and regularly monitored by campus safety personnel and the Kennesaw State University Police Department, who enforce parking regulations 24/7. Visitors parked on campus also benefit from several amenities, including:
- Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations situated across both KSU campuses.
- Accessible ADA-compliant parking spaces, requiring a state-issued disabled placard or license plate.
- Immediate proximity to campus dining, rest facilities, and the Carmichael Student Center.
Strategic Alternative
The Student Center Visitor Lot serves as a highly strategic alternative parking location for university athletic events. During Kennesaw State Owls football games at the nearby Fifth Third Stadium, this lot is designated for public handicap parking. From here, visitors can board the free Big Owl Bus shuttle, which runs continuously to transport fans directly to and from the stadium entrance. It is also an excellent parking choice for those attending performances at the Bailey Performance Center or exploring the Zuckerman Museum of Art.
