Overview & Suitability
The New Port Richey Parking Garage, also known as the New Port Richey Parking Structure, is a modern, multi-level public parking facility located at 6218 US-19, right behind the Keiser University building. Owned and operated by the City of New Port Richey, this facility is designed to significantly alleviate downtown congestion by offering an abundance of off-street parking. Offering over 300 parking spots spread across multiple levels, it is highly suitable for standard passenger vehicles, SUVs, and light trucks. Please note that it is not designed to accommodate oversized motorhomes, RVs, or trailers due to overhead clearance limits and tight ramp turns.
Access, Dimensions & Clearance
The facility features a straightforward entry and exit system positioned just off US-19 and Main Street. Navigation within the structure is smooth, with clearly marked one-way lanes and a spiral ramp connecting the levels. Standard vehicle clearance is maintained throughout the levels; however, drivers of oversized vehicles, tall commercial vans, or vehicles with roof racks should check the clearance indicators at the entrance. The turns between levels and the parking bays are designed for standard-sized vehicles, meaning larger dual-rear-wheel trucks might find maneuvering a bit tight during peak hours.
Parking Rates, Tariffs & Booking
One of the most appealing features of the New Port Richey Parking Garage is that it is 100% free of charge! There are no entry fees, hourly tariffs, daily caps, or hidden costs. Additionally, there is no reservation or pre-booking system required; drivers can simply pull up, find an open spot, and park. There are no ticket machines or payment gates to navigate, making the entire parking experience seamless and highly cost-effective.
Security & Amenities
Despite being a free public facility, the garage does not compromise on safety and modern conveniences. Key features include:
- 24/7 video surveillance monitoring the premises.
- Bright LED lighting throughout all levels, stairwells, and elevator shafts, ensuring a well-lit and secure environment at night.
- Four dual-port Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations operated by ChargePoint, distributed across the levels to support eco-friendly drivers.
- ADA-compliant parking spots and accessible elevators serving all levels of the structure.
Strategic Alternative
The garage serves as a primary strategic parking hub for exploring downtown New Port Richey and attending major local events, such as the annual Chasco Fiesta at nearby Sims Park. Rather than circling the busy historic downtown streets, visitors can park at the garage and utilize the City's free, handicap-accessible DART (Downtown Area Roundabout Trolley). The DART trolley services the structure during select hours, offering quick and direct transit into the heart of downtown, the public library, and nearby waterfront parks, making this parking garage the smartest starting point for any visit to the area.
