The Robert E. Robinson Parking Garage, operated by the City of Savannah, is a secure, multi-level structured parking facility located in the heart of downtown Savannah. Built in 1985, this five-story garage accommodates up to 520 vehicles. It is ideally suited for standard passenger cars, SUVs, and light trucks. Due to height limitations and structural constraints, it is not suitable for RVs, motorhomes, heavy commercial trucks, or vehicles towing trailers. Visitors with oversized vehicles should utilize the nearby Savannah Visitor Center parking lot instead.
Access, Dimensions & Clearance
The facility features a maximum vehicle height clearance of 7 feet. Drivers should navigate with care as the ramp turns can be tight. The surrounding streets are predominantly one-way: Montgomery Street runs northbound on the west side, State Street runs westbound on the north, and York Street runs eastbound on the south. Main entrances to the garage are located along York Street (from the south) and Jefferson Street (from the east), with exit lanes opening onto State Street and York Street. Convenient stairwells and elevators are situated on both the east and west sides of the building.
Parking Rates, Tariffs & Booking
Payments are processed upon arrival or exit, and space reservations are generally not available except via pre-sale permits during major city-wide events (such as the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade). Self-pay kiosks at the exits accept credit cards (Visa and MasterCard only). The parking rates are highly competitive:
- Weekday Hourly Rate (Monday – Friday, 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM): $2.00 per hour or portion thereof.
- Weekday Daily Maximum: $20.00.
- Evening Flat Rate (Monday – Thursday, 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM): $2.00 flat rate.
- Friday Evening Flat Rate (5:00 PM – 5:00 AM): $2.00 flat rate.
- Weekend Flat Rate: $5.00 flat rate per day (applies Saturday 5:00 AM to Sunday 5:00 AM, and Sunday 5:00 AM to Monday 5:00 AM).
- Monthly Parking Rates: $85.00 for weekday-only access (Monday – Friday, 5:00 AM – 9:00 PM) or $100.00 for unlimited 24/7 access during operational hours.
Security & Amenities
The Robinson Parking Garage is a well-lit, municipal structure patrolled regularly to maintain a safe environment. Key convenience features include passenger elevators, pedestrian-friendly exit routes, and four Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations (two Tesla Destination NACS chargers and two J1772 plugs) available for public use. Clear directional signage is posted throughout the interior and exterior to assist drivers.

As a prime parking hub, this garage acts as an exceptional and budget-friendly alternative to premium valet lots or congested street parking. It is located directly across from the historic Trinity United Methodist Church on Telfair Square and is steps away from top local attractions, including the Jepson Center, Telfair Academy, the Savannah Cultural Arts Center, and the American Prohibition Museum. Additionally, the free downtown DOT shuttle stops nearby, allowing visitors to park here and seamlessly navigate the rest of Savannah's Historic Landmark District.
