Overview & Suitability
The "Parking lego" facility (informally known as the "Lego Head Parking Lot" or the old Sears building parking lot) is a surface parking lot located at the corner of East Henry Street and Drayton Street in Savannah's historic Victorian District. It is famously recognized by a yellow concrete barrier block decorated to look like a Lego minifigure head, which has become a beloved local landmark, creative street art piece, and a Pokémon Go stop. This open-air surface lot is highly suitable for standard passenger vehicles, SUVs, and smaller light trucks. However, due to its urban setting and neighborhood layout, it is not designated as an official RV park or campground and is not suitable for overnight motorhome camping.
Access, Dimensions & Clearance
Being a surface-level, open-air lot, there are no height clearance restrictions, making it an excellent option for taller passenger vans or vehicles with roof racks. Access is gained via East Henry Street or Drayton Street. Drivers should note that the surrounding streets in the Victorian District can be narrow with one-way traffic patterns (such as Drayton Street). The lot itself features an open surface layout, requiring standard caution around any uneven ground and tight entry points.
Parking Rates, Tariffs & Booking
While historically an underutilized lot or rented out for film productions, the area has transitioned towards regulated off-street parking. Digital reservation services operate in the immediate vicinity, with daily rates starting around $7.99 to $12.00 depending on demand and local events. For on-site drive-up parking, payment is typically handled via mobile parking apps (like ParkSavannah or Passport) or digital pay stations depending on exact space allotment.
Security & Amenities
This is a basic, open-air neighborhood parking lot. It lacks advanced amenities such as EV charging stations, restrooms, or active on-site security guards. It relies on standard street lighting and natural neighborhood visibility. Visitors are strongly advised to lock their vehicles, roll up windows, and keep all valuables out of sight to ensure safety, as is standard practice across downtown Savannah.
Strategic Alternative
Situated just south of the famous Forsyth Park, this location serves as an exceptional strategic alternative to the heavily congested parking areas of the Savannah Historic District. It is steps away from local neighborhood favorites like White Whale Craft Ales and the Bull Street corridor. It also provides easy access to the free CAT DOT shuttle, allowing visitors to park here and easily commute into the heart of downtown Savannah without paying premium garage rates.
