Overview & Suitability
The Hiram Park & Ride lot is a dedicated regional transit parking facility located within the Hiram Pavilion development. As the primary access point in the region for the ATL Xpress commuter bus service, this open-air surface lot offers 160 free parking spaces designed specifically for standard passenger cars, SUVs, and commuter vans. It is highly suitable for daily commuters, carpoolers, and vanpoolers. Please note that commercial trucks, motorhomes, and recreational vehicles (RVs) are strictly prohibited from using this lot, as it is strictly reserved for day-use commuters.
Access, Dimensions & Clearance
This facility is an open-air, paved asphalt parking lot with no height restriction barriers, ensuring hassle-free access for high-clearance light passenger vehicles. The lot is designed with wide, clearly marked driving lanes that make navigation safe and simple. Conveniently positioned just one block from the intersection of State Route 6 (Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway) and Metromont Road, drivers can easily enter and exit the facility during peak commute hours.
Parking Rates, Tariffs & Booking
Parking at the Hiram Park & Ride is entirely free for transit patrons, carpoolers, and vanpoolers. No prior booking or reservation is needed, and spaces are claimed on a first-come, first-served basis. However, long-term, multi-day, or overnight parking is strictly prohibited. To utilize the transit connection, riders can board the Xpress Route 476 bus, which costs $4.00 for a single trip (Blue Zone fare). Bus fares can be paid onboard with exact cash, with a physical Breeze Card, or via the Breeze Mobile 2.0 app.
Security & Amenities
The lot provides standard outdoor amenities including paved parking spaces, ADA-compliant accessible stalls, and overhead street lighting for safety during early morning and late evening hours. A dedicated transit bus shelter is on-site to keep commuters sheltered from the elements while waiting. While local law enforcement patrols the area, there is no active gated control or full-time security staff. Drivers are highly encouraged to lock their vehicles, roll up windows, and store all personal valuables completely out of sight.
Strategic Alternative
This location serves as an excellent strategic parking alternative for residents of Paulding, Bartow, and Cobb counties commuting into Atlanta. By parking here for free and boarding the Xpress Route 476, commuters can enjoy a direct ride to major employment hubs in Downtown and Midtown Atlanta (including stops at Civic Center and Arts Center MARTA stations). This completely eliminates the stress of navigating the highly congested I-20 or I-75 corridors and avoids the high costs associated with city parking decks.
