The Robert E. Robinson Parking Garage (frequently called the Robinson Car Park) is a prominent, city-owned multi-story parking facility situated in the heart of Savannah's Historic Landmark District at 132 Montgomery St. Built in 1985, this structured garage offers 520 parking spaces and is highly suited for standard passenger cars, SUVs, and light trucks. Because it is a covered parking structure with height restrictions, it is not suitable for RVs, motorhomes, trailers, or oversized commercial vehicles. Visitors with oversized vehicles should utilize nearby surface lots such as the MLK Savannah Visitor Center Lot.
Access, Dimensions & Clearance
The main entrance and exit to the garage are located on W. York Street, between Montgomery Street and State Street. The facility features a covered multi-level ramp configuration with standard height clearances. Navigation inside involves typical multi-story turns, so extra-long vehicles should maneuver with care. The garage provides tight but highly manageable spaces for standard vehicles.
Parking Rates, Tariffs & Booking
The garage operates on a pay-on-arrival/exit model with ticket dispensers at the gate. Reservations cannot be pre-booked online; parking is first-come, first-served. Visa and MasterCard are accepted at automated payment kiosks, while cash payment is generally not accepted. Rates are structured as follows:
- Weekday Rate (Monday - Friday, 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM): $2.00 per hour or portion thereof, up to a maximum daily limit of $20.00.
- Weekday Night Rate (Monday - Thursday, 5:00 PM - 1:00 AM): $2.00 flat rate.
- Friday Night Rate (Friday, 5:00 PM - 5:00 AM): $2.00 flat rate.
- Weekend Flat Rate (Saturday & Sunday): $5.00 flat rate per day (valid from 5:00 AM to 5:00 AM the following day).
- Monthly Parking Passes: Unlimited monthly access is priced at $100.00, while a reserved space option is available for $180.00. An evening/overnight-only monthly pass (valid 3:00 PM to 6:00 AM daily) is available for $35.00.
- Special Events: Flat-rate event pricing between $5.00 and $25.00 may apply during major downtown events.
- Lost Ticket Fee: $42.00.
