Overview & Suitability
Secret Parking refers to the private, tucked-away guest parking facility for The Inn on West Liberty, located in the heart of Savannah's Historic Landmark District. This quiet, off-street lot is dedicated exclusively to registered overnight guests of the inn. Due to the compact nature of the historic lane and the lot itself, it is perfectly suited for standard passenger cars, small SUVs, and sedans. However, it is highly restricted and entirely unsuitable for oversized vehicles, motorhomes, RVs, or trailers.
Access, Dimensions & Clearance
Accessing this secluded parking area requires careful navigation through Savannah’s historic grid:
- Driving Route: From the front of the inn at 109 W Liberty St, proceed down West Liberty Street, turn right onto Whitaker Street, and then make an immediate right turn into West Liberty Lane (the narrow alleyway behind the property). Proceed approximately 50 feet past the 3-car carriage house garage, and turn right into the designated parking lot.
- Clearance & Dimensions: As an open-air surface lot, there are no overhead clearance height restrictions. However, the entry lane is exceptionally narrow with tight turning radiuses, meaning large pickup trucks or oversized SUVs may find the turns challenging. Drivers are advised to navigate the alley with caution.
Parking Rates, Tariffs & Booking
Because this lot is a private amenity of the bed-and-breakfast, pricing is structured as follows:
- Pricing: Parking is complimentary for registered guests of The Inn on West Liberty, with the cost fully integrated into the room reservation.
- Booking: Spots are reserved automatically when booking a stay at the inn. There are no independent parking apps, pay stations, or hourly/daily public parking options available for non-guests.
Security & Amenities
The lot provides a safe and quiet environment for guest vehicles. Key features include:
- Secluded Location: Hidden from the main high-traffic streets, reducing the risk of opportunistic crime or vehicle tampering.
- Lighting: The area is illuminated by residential-style exterior lighting from the adjacent courtyard and carriage house.
- Convenience: Direct, seamless access to the inn’s courtyard, private guest entrances, and an on-site elevator.
Strategic Alternative
For visitors traveling to the area who are not staying at the inn, or for guests with oversized vehicles that cannot fit in the alley, excellent nearby public parking alternatives exist:
- Whitaker Street Garage: Located just a few blocks north at 7 Whitaker St, this is a secure, underground public garage ideal for general public parking.
- Street Parking: Metered street parking is available along W Liberty St and Whitaker St, manageable via the ParkSavannah mobile app.
