Overview and Suitability
University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) Parking Lot D is an surface-level parking facility primarily serving the students, faculty, staff, and visitors of the UIS campus. As a designated university lot, it supports standard passenger vehicles and provides essential access to nearby academic buildings and administrative offices. The lot is managed by UIS Parking Operations.
Access and Navigation
The lot offers standard surface access typical of a university campus. While designed for standard vehicular traffic, users should be aware of standard campus traffic patterns and occasional congestion during peak academic hours. There are no specific low-clearance restrictions associated with this open-air surface lot.
Parking Rates and Regulations
Parking on the UIS campus is regulated, and vehicles must typically display a valid university parking permit or pay at designated meters if available. Pricing and availability can fluctuate based on current university policy and permit status. Visitors are encouraged to consult the official UIS campus parking map or the Parking Operations website for real-time updates regarding permit requirements or metered parking availability.
Security and Amenities
The facility benefits from standard campus security patrols and institutional oversight. Parking in this area provides convenient proximity to campus services, including the Mail Center and various health facilities, though it does not typically include specialized amenities like covered charging stations or gated structures.
Strategic Alternatives
Lot D serves as a key parking hub for those attending events at the university or visiting the main campus library and administrative offices. For those seeking transit alternatives, the campus maintains a connection to local transit routes that serve the greater Springfield area.
