Overview & Suitability
The VCU West Broad Street Parking Deck is a primary parking facility serving the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Monroe Park Campus. It provides essential access for commuters, campus visitors, and individuals attending events at the nearby Siegel Center and Altria Theater. The facility accommodates standard passenger vehicles; however, it is not designed for oversized vehicles such as motorhomes or RVs.
Access, Dimensions & Clearance
The facility is located at 1111 W. Broad St., Richmond, VA. Drivers should exercise caution regarding vehicle height; it is highly recommended to consult the official VCU Deck Clearance listings prior to arrival if driving a taller-than-average vehicle. Access is managed via automated gates, and navigation within the deck is typical of standard urban parking structures.
Parking Rates, Tariffs & Booking
Parking is available on a daily or hourly basis. Rates are structured as $3.00 for the first hour, with incremental increases up to a maximum daily rate of $17.00. Please note that these rates are subject to change, especially during special events when the facility may transition to permit-only or flat-rate event parking. Payment is cashless; the deck accepts major credit and debit cards at automated pay stations. Payment can also be managed via the Passport Parking app where applicable.
Security & Amenities
The deck is a monitored facility designed for university use, featuring:
- CCTV surveillance and well-lit parking areas to enhance safety.
- Automated gate systems for controlled access.
- Intercom \"i\" buttons located at entry/exit lanes for immediate assistance from a live officer.
- Proximity to the VCU Welcome Center and the campus bookstore on the ground floor.
Strategic Alternative
This deck serves as a strategic parking hub for those visiting Richmond’s vibrant West Broad Street corridor. It is an ideal alternative for patrons attending performances at the Altria Theater or athletic events at the Siegel Center, offering a secure, structured parking environment compared to limited street-side options in the downtown area.
