Overview & Suitability
The West Douglas Park & Ride is a premier regional transit commuter facility situated off Douglas Boulevard in Douglasville, GA. Managed by the State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA) and the Atlanta-Region Transit Link Authority (ATL) in partnership with Connect Douglas, this open-air, surface-level lot features 545 dedicated parking spaces. It is custom-tailored for standard passenger cars, commuter vans, and daily transit riders. Please note that this is strictly a commuter facility; overnight parking, camping, and RV lodging are strictly prohibited, making it unsuitable for recreational motorhomes or long-term trailer storage.
Access, Dimensions & Clearance
As an open-air surface lot, the facility has no height restriction barriers, making it fully accessible for high-top transit vans, SUVs, and large-format vehicles. The entrance gates, driving lanes, and turning radiuses are engineered to easily accommodate full-sized, 45-foot highway coach transit buses. Navigation throughout the lot is straightforward, featuring clear directional lane markings and ADA-compliant pathways to the bus loading zones.
Parking Rates, Tariffs & Booking
Parking at the West Douglas Park & Ride is entirely free of charge for transit patrons. No reservation, pre-booking, or parking vouchers are required, and spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Commuters are only responsible for regional transit fares when boarding. To ride the Xpress Route 463 to Downtown or Midtown Atlanta, or the Connect Douglas local routes, passengers pay on-board using cash (exact change), a physical Breeze Card, or the virtual Breeze Mobile 2.0 app.
Security & Amenities
The facility underwent a comprehensive $386,000 renovation to ensure modern customer standards. Security features include excellent overnight LED lighting coverage and periodic patrols by the Douglas County Parks & Security division. Key conveniences include freshly renovated hardscapes, clear wayfinding signage, passenger waiting shelters with benches, and designated ADA-compliant handicap parking spaces adjacent to the main bus platform.
Strategic Alternative
Strategically located right off Interstate 20, the West Douglas Park & Ride acts as an exceptional park-and-commute alternative for those looking to avoid heavy Atlanta traffic. In addition to daily commuting, this lot frequently serves as a vital off-site event parking resource, hosting complimentary event shuttles for nearby attractions such as concerts at the GreyStone Amphitheater or major local high school events.
